It feels like every other newsletter I talk about how close we are to the Of Other Worlds official launch and Light Beams restock. I promise I’m not teasing you with cloudy allusions to your wait’s end. However, I’ve learned over this process that plans will change no matter how near and dear you hold them. Project timelines will get pushed back, the quote will be higher than expected and the first pass will almost always be wrong. The only way to protect your sanity is to bake in a margin for error and expect nothing until it’s signed, sealed, delivered, and in your hands.
Wise beauty mentors recently told us, “You only launch once.” While that has already proven to be an incomplete truth for us (props to soft launch 😁), it’s important we take our time and hold out against the itch to go fast and by any means necessary. So, here’s what we’re shooting for over the next couple of months with the understanding that with fluidity — things are always subject to change.
This month, literally, right now ⏰: Planning, designing, fundraising and finishing production.
With our projected launch slated for late spring/early summer, we’re focused on getting funding to execute some fun strategies that will make an industry splash that means something. We’re designing odds and ends of boxes, press kits and marketing collateral while waiting for the same to arrive with our manufacturer so everything can get filled. A bit of a hurry-up-and-wait situation.
April-May 🏄🏾♂️: When things finally start moving
These months will include getting product to editors, influencers and our biggest fans. Expect digital and offline activations that reignite our community and bring new eyes to the brand. Here, I am being purposefully vague because I’m sometimes bad at keeping exciting secrets, which are best experienced in real-time.
June🌈: Pride month. My birthday month. Launch month? It makes sense to come full circle and hard launch almost exactly a year after we dipped our toe in the beauty waters. June is home to some of my favorite Black, gay and gemini celebrations. Might as well plan to tack another reason to get lit onto it.
In the meantime…
Some of you already know the power of Light Beams, while others eagerly await their turn to experience it. Word of mouth is impressive, but sometimes you need to see proof to feel comfortable getting on board. While we work through the above agenda, we’re looking for volunteers interested in participating in our in-house consumer satisfaction trial. Participants will be sent a deluxe sample of Light Beams and an accompanying skincare routine. They will evaluate changes in their skin and take photos to demonstrate to the skeptics, the curious and our supporters precisely what they can expect after using Light Beams.
If interested, fill out our survey linked here. All are welcome! Any questions? Shoot me a note at hello@ofotherworlds.com.
If you’re paying *really* close attention, you may have noticed some other little changes.
